The Mets' season has taken a downward turn despite notable additions like Bichette and Juan Soto. Concurrently, former key players such as Pete Alonso and Brandon Nimmo are no longer with the team.

With the managerial change, disgruntled Mets supporters have increasingly focused their criticism on President of Baseball Operations David Stearns. His extensive offseason restructuring efforts have, thus far, generated more questions regarding the team's direction than tangible victories.

Expectations for the team in Queens were initially high. Bichette's signing was widely perceived as a strategic move by the Mets, following the Los Angeles Dodgers' acquisition of Kyle Tucker in free agency. Interestingly, Tucker has also faced difficulties in his new setting.

During his tenure in Toronto, Bichette achieved two All-Star selections. His performance during the Blue Jays' World Series run was particularly notable; despite battling a late-season knee injury, he maintained a .348 batting average and a .444 on-base percentage.

In a pivotal Game 7, his three-run home run off Shohei Ohtani brought Toronto to the verge of its first championship. However, the Dodgers ultimately defeated the Blue Jays in extra innings, preventing them from securing the title.

Following this, Bichette entered into a three-year, $126 million contract agreement with the Mets. This commitment represented a significant wager on his future with the New York franchise, a decision that has coincided with the team's current difficulties.

While some Mets fans might react negatively to Bichette's public display of emotion, it is not without precedent in professional sports. Dodgers fans, for instance, ultimately showed understanding towards Freddie Freeman when he became emotional about his departure from Atlanta.
